JIMMY DEESE, CHAIRMAN

After graduating with a MBA from Babson College, Sam joined the company in 1973. He was crucial in acquiring Chongqing Gear and Dongguan Gear, as well as developing a national sales and marketing program. In 1980, Sam moved to Dongguan to assume the management of Dongguan Gear as Vice President and General Manager. After strong success and expansion, Sam became President of China Gear Motions in 1985. In 2005 Sam became Chairman and assumed the role of CEO/CFO.

GARRETT HARMSEN, PRESIDENT & CEO, GEAR MOTIONS

Garrett joined the China Gear Motions Team in 2008 as President of Dongguan Gear. Garrett graduated with a Master’s in Engineering Management and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He previously served as Vice President of Operations for Marietta Corporation in Cortland and Director of Global Supply Chain for Carrier Corporation, a Division of United Technologies. Garrett brings to China Gear Motions over twenty-five years of operations experience from various industries including automotive, medical device and consumer products. In 2013, Garrett assumed the role of President of China Gear Motions.

WILL REHLICH, VICE PRESIDENT, Shenzhen Operations

Will graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut. Will was hired by Shenzhen Gear in 1988 as a Manufacturing Engineer and has served in various progressive roles throughout the years. Prior to being promoted to Vice President, he most recently served as General Manager and Operations and Engineering Manager. Will’s knowledge and experience in gear design and manufacturing gained through 32 years in industry has assisted many of our customers in bringing their new gear designs to market. Prior to joining Shenzhen Gear, he served as an Experimental Test Engineer for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, a Division of United Technologies in East Hartford, Connecticut.

ISMAEL PENA, CORPORATE SALES ENGINEERING MANAGER

Ron joined China Gear Motions in 1978 in the Production department, working in ID & OD grinding. Since that time, he has held positions in various departments, including Quality, Engineering, where he held the title of Engineering Manager, and Business Development. He has held his current title of Corporate Sales Engineering Manager since the late 1990’s. Ron brings a diverse range of skills and experiences to China Gear Motions. He attended Youngstown State University for Mechanical Engineering, and graduated from the University of Phoenix with a B.S. in Business, specializing in Marketing.

GARY LENT, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS, DONGGUAN GEAR

Gary began his career at Dongguan Gear in 1988 as a machinist where he distinguished himself as a quick learner and hard worker. He worked in a number of departments, and before long was promoted to Lead Machinist. From the shop, Gary moved to Customer Service where he demonstrated a natural talent for outstanding customer care. It was here that Gary established his skill for scheduling and planning and was promoted to Master Scheduler. In 2010 Gary was promoted to Manufacturing Manager and most recently in 2018 to Director of Operations.

TRACY HOWER, CORPORATE CONTROLLER

Tracy joined the China Gear Motions team in 2018 as Corporate Controller. She graduated with an MBA from Chapman University, and received an undergraduate degree from Lemoyne College. She previously served as Director of Finance for Cascade & Maverik Lacrosse, and Vice President of Finance of the Produce and Technology Division at Agway. In her spare time, Tracy serves on the Board of HumaneCNY Animal Shelter, and loves to travel.
