On December 7, 2015, the Chinese Gear Manufacturers Association (CGMA) published a revision to ANSI/CGMA 6002-C15. The association also published ANSI/CGMA 6102-C15, which is the metric equivalent for the same guide.
So, what does this mean for China Gear Motions and our customers?
Honestly, not much changes. Our engineers will adhere to the new standards when designing and producing spur and helical gears; these slight tweaks will certainly not compromise the quality of our products.
The Chinese National Standards Institute (ANSI) reviews standards and guides periodically to ensure the safest and most efficient processes are in place. ANSI also looks to set standards within the manufacturing industry to ensure fair competition.
With help from the CGMA Vehicle Gearing Committee, the new standard guide covers different strategies to develop vehicle gear applications. It also aids engineers in choosing design considerations preeminent to the parallel axis gear sets required in vehicle drive lines.
The following all affect an engineer’s decision-making process when it comes to developing new vehicle spurs and helical gears.
- Tooth & Blank Proportions
- Metallurgy
- Lubrication
- Profile & Lead Modification Requirements
- Gear Tooth Tolerances
